The compliance program of the Australian Competition and Consumer Council, the body established to oversee compliance with competition law in Australia, is continually expanding. 

The rigour with which it pursues businesses throughout Australia is such that now any business not conversant with its legal obligations under legislation such as the Trade Practices Act takes a considerable risk.
